First, determine it by whether it can be used by dilution with water! Second: 

I. The grinding fluid of oily metal grinding materials, i.e. the grinding fluid that cannot be used by dilution with water, including sulfurized cutting oil, stretching oil, punching oil, honing oil, etc.;

II. Water-based grinding fluid, i.e. the grinding fluid that can be used by dilution with water, including

1. The emulsified oils, which shall be obsoleted; 

2. The full synthetic grinding fluid without mineral oil; 

3. The micro-emulsified grinding fluid with a small amount of mineral oil (also called as semi-synthetic), which is recognized currently as the best water-based grinding fluid in the world.

Finally, it is concluded that oil-based grinding fluid and water-based grinding fluid are fluid used for metal processing, and collectively referred to as the metal processing fluid.

In addition to the high rust resistance, the grinding fluid for metal grinding material has good lubricating and cooling properties.
